Beauty Finds/ Recent Purchases

I love Lipsticks and I'm in the process of getting more spring and summer colours.  Yes, I am anticipating spring even though it doesn't look to be coming anytime soon.  Anyways, it seems that crayon/pencil lipsticks and lipbalms are a big thing now across all the major cosmetic companies.  I went to Target the other day and picked up two new lip balms/lip sticks which I really didn't go there for but I'm an impulse buyer.

The first colour I got was the pink one in the middle, which is NYC City Proof Twistable Crayon.  The colour I got was Fulton St. Fushia.  Its a bright pink colour with a slight shine.  It is very moisturizing and pigmented.  It is a build-able colour, meaning that it isn't as bright with just one swipe but can built up to a very opaque pink.  The only problem I had with this one was that it does show any cracks in your lips, which I don't like.  It is workable and since I like the colour, I will continue to use it. This lipstick was around 3 dollars which I find very reasonable.

The second lipstick I got was the Rimmel London Colour Rush Balm in the colour On Fire.  The colour is a very similar to Coral.  The lipstick is very moisturizing and pigmented with a slight shine.  I find it to be more opaque then the NYC City Proof as well as it hides the imperfections in my lips a lot better.  It is a great spring and summer colour.  It retails for roughly 6 dollars.

The Makeup Forever item pictured above to the far left is a Mascara that was included in Sephora's beauty insider birthday pack.  It was my sisters but she didn't really like it and gave it to me.  I'm not a big fan of it either simply because the colour, Extravagant , is not a deep black and shows to be more of a grey colour.  I don't find it does anything special to my lashes for me to purchase the full bottle either.  The mascaras I have from the drug store brands do a lot better job.

Last but not least is my acrylic makeup holder! I have been looking for this thing forever and I am so excited to get my new lipsticks to fill it up with.  I'm not really big on makeup but I do love some lipstick and mascara.  I got this set from winners for 12.99, which in my opinion is more then reasonable.  It has space for 15 lipsticks and three additional spaces that can hold your brushes, mascara, powders or any additional items. I've just filled mine with some temporary items until I get my new lipsticks. I've already ordered a new mac lipstick which I can't wait to add in here.

Product Review: Eucerin Hyal-Urea Anti Wrinkle Day Cream

Hello Readers!

As previously stated, I have really dry skin on my face mainly due to my acne medication, Retin-A.  I've tried numerous skin moisturizers but none of them help with the issue of extreme dry skin and peeling. Typically when i use my regular moisturizers I have to apply a large amount and re-apply  throughout the day.  It has been really frustrating and my skin had only seemed to have gotten worse over these past few extremely cold winter months.  I did a little bit of research and came across the Eucerin line of skincare products.  I knew of the brand and the other body lotion I had previously used from them was extremely moisturizing.  I purchased the Eucerin Hyal-Urea Anti Wrinkle Day Cream from Target on sale for 13.99, it usually retails for 17.99 and comes in 50 ml.  I was originally looking for the regular day cream but it seems that they have replaced it with the Anti Wrinkle, which doesn't hurt I guess.

My first time using this product I decided to stick to my neutrogena sensitive skin cleanser, which is soap free, and then a dime size of the day cream.  I was scared at first because it seemed to be slightly greasy but as it sunk deep into my skin, it really did the job.  I didn't have to apply a lot of lotion or reapply throughout the day.  A little bit goes a long way with this cream so after the first time I cut back to smaller amount which does the job.  I would highly recommend this to anybody with extreme dry skin.  I have sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my skin at all, which is a big plus.  I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anybody with combination skin or oily skin because it will be too heavy of a moisturizer.  I'm not even sure if I will be able to use this in the summer time during the day, I may have to use it as a night cream only because my skin produces a lot more oil in the summer time.  As well, I know it says day cream but it's great to use in the day and night.
You can get this product from you're local Target or Walmart.

Product Reviews: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Hyrdating Gel Moisturizer

Hello Readers,

As usual, I'm trying out new face products. It's become inevitable with me.  I have combination skin which for me means that my skin gets really dry and brittle in some places but extremely oily in others.  I tried using Simple's sensitive skin moisturizer as well as Neutrogena's sensitive skin moisturizer.  The Simple's moisturizer did sting  a little bit even though it was for sensitive skin and the Neutrogena moisturizer left my skin too greasy for my liking.  I read a few mixed reviews on the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer and decided to give it a try.  I'm not head over heals in love with it but it does the job of moisturizing my skin with out feeling greasy.  It is not formulated for sensitive skin but it did not irritate my skin which is a plus.  It has a light cucumber smell, which does give you a refreshing feeling when applied in the morning.  The great part of about the moisturizer is that it provides my skin with great moisturizer without the extra grease and shine.  I'm hoping it has the same effect in the summer time, as my skin produces a lot more oil around that time.  I definitely recommend purchasing this product and you can get it at you local drug store for around 5 dollars.

Product Review: Herbal Essence Naked Cleansing Conditioner

Hello Readers!

As previously stated I am currently on a Natural hair journey.  For the past two year's I have been exploring my hair and trying my best to find a regime that will work for me.  My ultimate goal is to attain healthy, thick and strong hair. I've been trying my best to stray from shampooing too often and slowly transitioning to more co-washing. Two weeks ago I heard about the Herbal Essence Naked collection and was eager to try it out. One of the many products in the new line is their Cleansing Conditioner, which is free of sulfates, parabens and dyes.  It advertises to:
"gently cleanse your hair and feel moisturized. my low lather cleansing conditioner indulges each strand with the scent of herbal mint. free of sulfates, parabens, or dyes." Source
I used it a few days ago to wash my hair was pleasantly surprised.  I do tend to have dry scalp, so I was a bit worried if the Cleansing Conditioner would actually do the job.  The cleanser has a lighter consistency then your typical conditioner and although the bottle says 3-4 pumps would be sufficient, I used double the amount.  I tend to over due it with the conditioner to make sure it get's on EVERY strand of hair, so 3-4 pumps would probably be sufficient for the average person.  The cleanser does have a light mint scent to it but the fragrance is not overpowering.  It de-tangled my hair very well and the comb was able to pass through smoothly with no troubles.  I also blow dried my hair for the first time in a long time (I used a heat protectant) and found it to still be very soft.

Overall, the Cleansing Conditioner did a very good job of cleansing my hair while still providing it with moisture.  I would definitely recommend it as it doesn't contain any sulfate, which strip's the hair of it's natural moisture, but still does a great job of cleansing your hair and scalp.  I purchased it from my local Target for 6.99+tax.  If anyone else has tried the rest of the Herbal Essence Naked line please comment below on some of your favourites!

November Favourites!

Schools out for me, finally. Now I finally have time to blog. I didn't do too much shopping in November but I did pick up a few items. I don't really have to many boots because of my large calves so I was really just looking for a pair of cute everyday booties that would be perfect for the fall and spring weather.  I ordered these from Aldo online for $42, which is pretty good considering they are real suede leather.  They come in a chocolate and rust colour, I went with the chocolate. I love these boots! They have faux-fur lining inside which keeps my feet very comfy and cozy, perfect for fall weather. The fold over can be unfolded if you wanted to have the boot above your ankle.

My next favourite, which I purchased along with the boots, was a small side bag.  Most of my purses are large totes and I really don't carry a lot around with me. I wanted a small bag that I could just fit the necessities in. The purse was a little smaller then I imagined in my head but none the less, it is still the perfect size.  It comes in a black and the ox blood/plum colour, pictured below.  I always keep it safe with the black but this time I wanted something a little different and I definitely made the right choice. It has been my go to bag since I received it.

Now, I'm not really a make-up girl but I do love a good lipstick and some mascara.  I've been hearing good things about the L'oreal Voluminus Carbon Black mascara and decided to try it out.  Previous to this mascara I had been using Maybelline The Turbo Volume Express, which did me pretty well but this L'oreal Voluminous works wonders.  It makes such a big difference on my eyelashes, its amazing. It also does a great job of separating my lashes which is always a big problem for me, as my lashes often stick together. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that's looking for a good mascara.  I've also been hearing great things about the Benefits 'it's real' mascara, which I will try next.

Happy Holidays to all my readers!
