Eco Concious Fashionista

Source

Global warming is a scary word which we all seem to through to the back of our minds but it is an issue that will eventually affect the world in large volumes. So what can we fashionista’s do to reduce our impact on the environment Well here’s a few tips I’ve come up with.
  1. Purchase Organic! I’m not saying to buy a whole wardrobe of organic clothing because to be honest it will probably cost an arm and a leg right now. But, instead of buying a regular t-shirt for 8 dollars, why not buy the organic one for 10 dollars. Small thing’s do count.
  2. DIY! DIY-Do it yourself- is a common trend especially amongst the apparel and home décor areas. Instead of buying a new pair of shorts, why not use your old denim which you probably would have ended up throwing out any ways and create a new pair of denim shorts. Be creative!
  3. Thrift Shopping- Thrift shopping has been around for years but has become more popular in the last year or two. Not only are you recycling clothes but you can also find great unique and vintage pieces you wouldn’t be able to purchase at a large retailer.
  4. Wash Cold- Instead of using warm water, which uses more energy, why not wash with cold water. It will not only reduce your electricity bill but it will also help the environment in the long run.
  5. No Tumble- Of course, the dryer is convenience at it’s best but it also uses a lot of electricity and let’s go a lot of emissions. To reduce this, we can hang our clothes to dry instead of using the dryer. ( It also helps with shrinkage!)
  6. Donate- Spring has started, which mean’s spring cleaning. Well instead of throwing out your old clothes, donate them! Places like value village and good will are always’ looking for pre-used apparel items.

Let’s be sustainable and save our planet together!
